About Lix Velvet

Disorderly Conduct & Catwalk Domination

Clothing Lines Based In Chicago, IL

Lix Velvet is the first of many names I’ve been dubbed.  It originated from a typo I made on a memo before emails existed when I worked at the AIDS project.  The following day everyone was calling me Lix; soon after my last name was morphed to Velvet and I was christened!

When I retired from HIV education to pursue my passion of creating clothing art the name my co-workers had gifted me felt like a predictor of the future. ‘Lix Velvet’ designs are for those who go against the grain.  A non-conformist by nature I don’t label myself a fashion designer.  Fashion is for rule makers (and followers), costume and clothing art are for rule breakers!  Both my labels are for rule breakers!

Custom Clothing

Lix Velvet specializes in custom clothing for events and special occasions.

Disorderly Conduct

Disorderly Conduct is my streetwear line. The name references my lived experiences and the experience of bodies in general being censored and patrolled both informally and formally.  This line embraces the radical act of rule breaking to express oneself outside the one dimensional obligatory rules of social convention.

Catwalk Domination

Catwalk Domination is my custom, commission based line.  The name for this line is a combination of my street name from Harlem ‘Catwalk’ and my House name ‘Domination’.  I’m humbled by this name that has been gifted to me by my neighbors and former art partners in crime.  If you have a special event please contact for estimate.
